ReSharper Cheat Sheet

I have a self-confessed IDE add-in dependency. My mother subjected me to a cruel and unusual selectric-torture regimen as a lad that involved lots of repetitive typing, underroos and the threat of a  Burmese tiger trap. I really don't want to relive it right now.

That said, ReSharper is well on its way to replacing CodeRush as my current favorite for VS .NET development. Which is not to say I don't think CodeRush is a great tool. ReSharper's not as smooth as CodeRush in terms of templating and keystroke economy, but it has lesser forms of these capabilities and it's refactoring and navigation features are excellent. ReSharper's code formatting is also the first decent beautifier I've come across for C# code.

One thing that ReSharper could use is better documentation. To that end, I made my own cheat sheet as I was working on a recent project. There's documentation on the JetBrains site, but it's narrative and I got sick of hitting the browser every time I wanted to remember a keyboard shortcut.

Right now, the two add-ins seem pretty much incompatible, which makes sense given their level of integration with the IDE. In a perfect world, I could use ReSharper for refactoring and navigation and CodeRush for substitution and templating. This is probably unlikely to happy, as it caters only to junkies like myself who hate typing and are willing to throw $300 at the issue (all facetitiousness aside, this is a no-brainer of an investment to me personally).

Note to JetBrains: support forum. Get one to back up your excellent products. http://www.intellij.net/forums/

Addendum:
From the IntelliJ forums, sure VS 2005 is much improved, but some competition from JetBrains in the full-blown IDE space would be really nice.

It's hard to say now anything about EAP for standalone version now. We here plan to switch to our own IDE as the main tool for our own development in 3-4 months. Expect EAP not earlier than that.
